Honorary Professorship Awarded to Schaeffler Executive Management Board Member Dr. Peter Gutzmer

Dr. Peter Gutzmer, who is Executive Vice President of Technical Product Development of the Schaeffler Group, Vice President of Schaeffler Group Automotive and temporarily responsible for the Powertrain division at Continental, has been appointed “Advisory Professor” of Tongji University in Shanghai (China).

The certificate of appointment was presented by Dong Qi, Vice President of Tongji University. He praised the close partnership which Tongji-University has maintained with the Schaeffler Group for many years. “With the appointment of Dr. Gutzmer, we are expanding our cooperation, which is already demonstrated by technical exchanges and the promotion of recruitment and internships both in China and in Germany.”

Dr. Gutzmer gave a lecture about e-mobility as part of the appointment ceremony. After all, as a renowned supplier to the automotive industry, the Schaeffler Group focuses on e-mobility and the components required for these systems in addition to the widely known products for engines, transmissions and chassis.

The partnership between Tongji University in Shanghai and the Schaeffler Group was started by establishing the “Schaeffler Automotive Engineering Endowment” in 2006 with the objective of enabling technical exchange programs. Since then engineers from the Schaeffler Group have held seminars at Tongji University. The Schaeffler Group regularly invites graduates to the company and offers accompanying study programs.
